Oak Tree Bench

Oak Tree Bench Public Art

The Oak Tree Bench was designed by sculptor Robert H Foster to illustrate an idea and the importance of the trees of Forest Grove. Mr. Foster's concept here was to design a bench in an impression and simple form of an actual tree that one could use as a bench. The form followed the tree, the function followed the bench in a creation of more than its parts.

The bench was designed in a three dimensional AutoCAD electronic program that was fed into a plasma cutter that cut each piece from 1/4" aluminum sheets. Each piece was then arc welded together and finished in a polyurethane paint.

The bench is 7 ft. wide by 3 ft. 6 in. tall.
